The world ranking of taekwondo poomsae will be announced in April 2023. As usual, the ranking will be determined by the WTFI taekwondo poomsae event held in April 2023. Those listed below are grouped by system: Kukkiwon (widely known as the World Taekwondo Headquarters), International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF), and other systems (which include some persons receiving ranks from taekwondo organizations that predate the other two systems, e.g. the original Korea Taekwondo Association (KTA)) and United Taekwondo Association UWTA.
There are two types of main categories here. 1) Recognized Poomsae Ranking, 2) Freestyle Poomsae Ranking. There are also male and female individual rankings. The World Taekwondo Federation has announced that April 2023 is the target date for the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship. So far, the World Taekwondo Poomsae rankings have been announced for January 2019. As it has been announced, this year there will be a new ranking system and a new category for the women’s poomsae, along with a new category for the men’s poomsae. This ranking is very important for the next taekwondo summer camp and taekwondo world champion.
This was a great opportunity to learn about world-class taekwondo and the various levels of the ranking system. It gave me a chance to interact with people from all over the world and experience a cultural side of South Korea that I didn’t know about.
Ehatasamul Alom is an esteemed Taekwondo 3rd Dan Black Belt with over 12 years of experience in this dynamic martial art. Born in Rajshahi, Bangladesh, Ehatasamul’s journey with Taekwondo began at the tender age of seven. His passion led him to compete at national and international levels, where he has bagged numerous awards and honors. He is also a member of the Taekwondo National Referee Panel.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science from the prestigious Rajshahi University, Ehatasamul has a deep understanding of the technical and scientific aspects of martial arts.
