The capital of Peru is poised to emerge as a key center for Pan American Taekwondo in June 2025, as the city gears up to host the second edition of the esteemed tournament along with a series of World Taekwondo (WT) referee seminars.
The Kukkiwon Cup, a premier competition set to occur from 19-21 June, will offer Pan American Taekwondo Union (PATU) ranking and aims to achieve the highly sought-after WT G1 ranking, thereby enhancing its prestige on the global stage.
Recognizing the significance of the Kukkiwon Cup, PATU has arranged extensive referee training and updating seminars in Lima. A program for aspiring new international referees, along with Kyorugi refresher courses for current officials, will take place from 9-12 June. This will be succeeded by a focused Poomsae seminar running from 14-18 June. To ensure the highest caliber of instruction, these educational sessions will be conducted by specialized educators sent by World Taekwondo.

Juan Manuel Lopez, President of the Pan American Taekwondo Union, stressed the significance of this initiative for the region. “This second edition of the Taekwondo Kukkiwon Cup is evidence of the advancement of Taekwondo in our region. Our aim is not only to provide a high-level competition environment but also to enhance the training of our referees and coaches. Education is vital for the progress of our sport and these seminars will present a fantastic opportunity to continue elevating the technical standard in the Americas,” he remarked.
